Retirement

For those individuals age 50 or older who choose not to work full time, a seniors program is available. The Geauga County Board of MRDD's senior program shares a facility with the West Geauga Senior program in Chesterland, Ohio. The joint program enables the seniors with disabilities to participate in dances, parties, and special events with non-disabled seniors. The location of the program is in a beautiful and serene area on Caves Road. The seniors have access to a party center, snack bar, farm market and paved walking trails. In addition, opportunities for swimming, community trips, arts & crafts and physical activities are available.
Currently at the Senior's Program, there are three (3) Geauga County Board of MRDD employees who are available to assist older adults with personal care, medication administration, recreation, socialization, physical exercises, community trips and much more! The Geauga County Board of MRDD senior's program is open Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm.
The individuals who participate in this program are able to do so on a full or part time basis.
Recent events have included pumpkin decorating contests, holiday parties, educational presentations, trips to the Rescue Village, Patterson's Fruit Farm hay ride, polka dance in Chardon, a "behind the scene" tour of the Cleveland Zoo and a trip to the animal farm.
Special Events are also planned and can include holiday parties, educational presentations honoring events such as Martin Luther King Day, President's Day and Veteran's Day along with themed outings.
