ODMRDD AWARDS A 5-YEAR ACCREDITATION TO THE GCBMRDD
In May, the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities awarded their longest accreditation term to the Geauga County Board of MRDD. The accreditation review only found three documentation concerns that needed to be addressed, but they were very impressed by the Early Intervention program, the Senior Citizens program, the collaboration with the Das Deutsch Center, the new transportation system, and the community employment opportunities like Dillen Products and Abanaki.
Superintendent, Don Rice, would like to express the Board’s appreciation to the staff and administration for their efforts to receive this award. It is a great honor to have the state recognize the quality of our programs with a 5-year award. Without the caring effort of our staff, the programs would not be successful. Keep up the great work everyone.
Special recognition goes out to Assistant Superintendent, Carol Brill, who coordinated the preparation and presentation of material to the accreditation review team. Carol began in the Spring of 2007 by gathering information and pulling the administrative team into the process. By the time of the on-site review in October, the administration and staff were very well prepared. They could spend their time show-casing their programs rather than searching for paperwork and documentations.
